You will manage internal and external relationships with key players working toward the common goal of providing exceptional spaces that span a variety of industries including Corporate, Education, Hospitality, and Healthcare.
You will be responsible for exceeding client expectations of all design deliverables while supporting the Porter brand.The Creative Specialist is a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary role and requires that you have a strong knowledge base of innovative commercial products as well as the ability to apply the right solutions for clients and projects.
This role reports directly to the Design Director.You will have a passion for furniture, technology, and how the evolving nature of work is impacting space.
You will be responsible for researching and delivering creative solutions to fit each client’s unique needs.
For this role, you are self-motivated and equally able to work independently or as part of a team with internal and external colleagues and client representatives.
As a member of the Porter team, you are someone who is driven to deliver excellent service while fostering relationships that aid in the collaborative process.Responsibilities:+ Support all assigned design work for project’s varying in size, scope, aesthetic and timeline, you will often manage several projects and deliverables simultaneously+ Meet with customers to gather project information through surveys, interviews, data collection, and observations+ Participate in these sessions and guide discussions to help customers determine the right product for their space and functional needs+ Perform field measurements, product inventory and product research+ Be highly empathetic to the client’s design needs and challenges+ Have a proven ability to research design problems and express design direction in a clear, compelling manner to solve problems and provide inspiring solutions+ Responsible for building a strong knowledge base of systems and ancillary options regarding lead times, budgetary constraints, and the ability to source & suggest alternates as needed+ Produce error-free budgetary pricing along with the vignette presentation for clients+ Produce exceptional final client materials including look books, validation packs, block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications through to final installation drawings+ Present design concepts to external clients with the project team+ Prepares order-ready packages to be converted into a formal quotation+ Strong understanding of customer service, both internal and external+ Strong interpersonal skills necessary for both client-facing as well as A&D firm interactions+ Take full ownership of design project deliverables; strong communication and time management skills are essential for success in this position+ Participating in industry events to keep product/services knowledge current+ Possess an intuitive sense for complex architectural interiors balanced with an extreme eye for details+ An active participant in Porter’s internal meetings, Learning & Development and team building events to build team effectiveness and synergyQualifications:+ Bachelor’s Degree (BA)+ 5-6 years’ of design experience preferred either obtained through work at a design firm, furniture dealership or related business in the commercial interiors industry+ Demonstrable experience specifically in schematic design & design development for clients+ Knowledge/passion for commercial furniture & ancillary+ Knowledge and practical experience working with Steelcase products is preferred+ PPT, CAD, Indesign, Excel, Photoshop & CET experience will set your application apart+ Must have understanding and passion for interior design, and ability to represent the Porter brand+ The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients from various markets/industries+ Demonstrated project management experience and ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, delivering on schedule+ Strong technical and graphic skills that can be validated through a strong portfolio of past workKnowledge/Skills/Abilities+ Strong product knowledge plus an interest and constant curiosity to expand your knowledge on products and services in this industry+ Strong organizational and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role+ Influential verbal communication skills and ability to present your ideas and contributions confidently with a client and their elected representatives+ Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and self-manage while also understanding how to function in a team environment with many individuals in various roles and departments all working towards a common objective+ You will be a critical contributor to the team effort by working closely with the CEM to serve diverse and sometimes demanding clients providing excellent customer service; professional oral and written communication is essential+ Creative problem solving and take initiative while having a positive attitude+ Flexible and understanding that large projects can face unexpected challenges, numerous deadlines and modifications+ Ability to adapt and adjust to change is paramount for success in this roleJob Status:ExemptOne Workplace is an equal opportunity employer & prohibits unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin/ancestry, age, disability, marital & veteran status.Physical RequirementsSeeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, driving.
