Wellspring Lutheran Services: Social Work – Supportive Visitation Coach – Beulah, Cadillac, Kalkaska, Manistee, Traverse City (Owosso)

Provide home-based supportive visitation intervention to families with children in out of home care but with a goal of reunification.

Responsible for regular visits with the family in their home, administering pre-post assessment tools, providing the Nurturing Parent curriculum, and documenting progress.

Support, coach, and intervene to maximize parent’s ability to effectively guide their children.

Be cognizant of safety and family well-being.

Assure stable transportation plans.

Work a flexible schedule based on families needs.Responsibilities Maintain face to face contact with families according to the contract defined frequency and the individual needs of the family.

Provide skills training using the Nurturing Parent curriculum, including but not limited to: physical and emotional aspects of child development; communication; setting limits and child management; alternatives to corporal punishment; active listening; conflict resolution; family rules; helping children with feelings; etc.

Refer families/make collateral contact to community services.

Prepare written reports to DHHS as required within the expected time frames.

Safety plan with families to reduce risk Observe and respond to early signs of abuse and neglect Assure stable transportation plan, including transport in your own vehicle as necessary.Qualifications Bachelor s degree in social work or related human service field; Prior to serving families, complete a training program, provided by a certified Nurturing Parent trainer, that teaches the philosophy of Nurturing Parenting and how to implement and facilitate the program Minimum one year experience working in human services**Wellspring Lutheran Services, Family Reunification, Family Services, Social Work, Human Services**
