Title: Veterinary and Animal Program Support (Study Technician II) Duration: 3 Months Location: South San Francisco, CA Note: Normally 40 hours per week, with weekends and holidays required on a rotating basis.
The hours may be implemented on a sliding workweek such as Sunday thru Thursday, or Tuesday thru Saturday, as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities: Assemble, set up, and operate any necessary experimental equipment.
Oral gavage in rodents IV, SQ, IP, IM injection techniques in rodents Blood collection techniques to include tail vein in rodents, orbital sinus in rodents and cardiac in rodents Necropsy and tissue collection Surgery support to include aseptic technique practices, compound calculations, osmotic pump implantation, ovariectomy, castration, laparotomy / with organ removal (i.e.
splenectomy) Education/Experience: Bachelor’s of Science degree in a Life Sciences discipline and four (4) years related experience or CVT/LVT/RVT certification and four (4) years directly related work experience in laboratory animal husbandry and technical skills as detailed above OR High School diploma/GED and six (6) years directly related work experience in laboratory animal husbandry and technical skills as detailed above required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: AALAS Certification at the LAT level preferred.
Other: Basic computer skills required.
