SUPPORT ANALYST – KWPD MIN. HOURLY

WAGE $30.20 DEPARTMENT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

PHYSICAL LOCATION:

➢ 1604 North Roosevelt Boulevard, Key West Police Department and other locations as needed.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:

➢ Information Technology Director or designee.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

➢ Performs technical and analytical work pertaining to the evaluation, installation, use and maintenance of stand alone and network attached personal computer systems. Responsible for installing hardware and software, analyzing and trouble shooting problems. Conducts physical installation of all computer and peripheral equipment. Must be task and goal oriented and complete work as assigned.

Employee will be responsible for performing Operator duties for the I Series (AS/400 mainframe computer.)

➢ Operates computer software used for TV broadcast scheduling. Operates audio/video equipment for live program broadcasting. Must be task and goal oriented and complete work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Without Accommodations)

➢ Able to read, write, speak and understand English.➢ Able to work a forty (40) hour work week and overtime when necessary.➢ Able to use equipment and/or materials as specified in this job description.➢ Able to see and hear well enough to perform the duties specified in this job description.➢ Able to lift articles weighing fifty (50) pounds.➢ Able to satisfactorily perform duties.➢ Valid Florida driver’s license.

➢ AS/400 computer, personal computers, related peripherals and office equipment.

ENVIRONMENT:

➢ Air conditioned office and offsite locations, occasionally outdoors.

DUTIES/TASKS/JOBS:

➢ Primary responsibility is user support and customer service.➢ Installs peripheral equipment and software.➢ Determines functional specifications of new systems and enhancements.➢ Responds to and diagnoses hardware and software trouble calls, conducts tests and debugs programs; checks existing programs within systems for errors; recommends configurations and makes necessary changes.

➢ Maintains inventory of all KWPD computer equipment and software.➢ Provide help desk support for the hardware and software used by City employees. Analytical ability will be used to determine type of problem and next course of action. May need to visit user off site to resolve the problem.

➢ Maintain familiarity with city owned software applications, i.e.: Windows 2000, Microsoft Office,Outlook email, Internet access, proprietary software, etc.

➢ Communicate with various hardware and software vendors to resolve issues➢ Communicate with both user and software representative to explain application software errors.➢ Communicates major hardware or software problem to other staff members.➢ Perform I Series (AS/400) Operator duties to include backups and upgrades to software.➢ Assists in ordering and getting quotes and inventorying supplies.➢ Assists in evaluating new hardware and software➢ Provide users with quotes for computer equipment to be purchased.➢ Assist in maintaining department files, including all operation records and reports.➢ Supports Key West Police Department Coban Body Camera equipment➢ Supports Key West Police Department Coban Digital Video Recording System➢ Supports Key West Police Department Taser equipment➢ Supports Key West Police Department One Solution software➢ Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS / ABILITIES/ QUALIFICATIONS:

➢ Ability to work independently within the scope of existing City and departmental rules.➢ Ability to communicate in a polite and effective manner with co-workers, City officials and the general public.

➢ Ability to follow oral and written instructions.➢ Proficient knowledge of microcomputer operating systems and ability to demonstrate.➢ Proficient knowledge of microcomputer application software and ability to demonstrate.➢ Willingness to attend training and/or computer related seminars as required.➢ Ability to support Emergency Operations Center when applicable.➢ Graduation from high school supplemented by recent training in the computer field; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

➢ Knowledge of information systems, concepts, techniques and operating principles.➢ Knowledge of various computer software programs and desk top publishing.➢ Knowledge of peripheral devices including scanners, printers➢ Knowledge of desk top operating systems.➢ Two years hands on equivalent experience in personal computer repair and the ability to demonstrate that knowledge.

➢ Knowledge of new developments related to personal computers➢ Knowledge of wide area network systems➢ Experience in working with Microsoft Windows and various computer applications.➢ Experience with IBM I Series (AS/400) preferred.➢ Able to demonstrate the ability to type and use a computer.➢ Ability to operate video record and playback equipment.➢ Ability to operate camera system for TV broadcast.➢ Knowledgeable of broadcast presentation etiquette.➢ Knowledgeable of audio/video electronics, including digital video recording equipment.➢ Knowledgeable of interconnectivity for audio/video equipment.➢ Able to demonstrate the ability to recognize and solve problems.➢ A+ certification required within 12 months of employment.➢ Must be able to qualify for any necessary checks to gain access to any City Public Safety locations.➢ Florida’s driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.
