Job Number: 200732 Department: Security Hours: 0745-1615 At Virginia Mason the Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff of the Medical Center, provides protection of property, and curtails criminal activity through visible deterrents.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required.
Basic certification through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) required within three months of position entry; Advanced certification required within six months of position entry.
Also required is a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem solving ability, willingness to challenge individuals and defuse situations in a polite and professional manner.
Must be willing to work directly with those in a crisis situation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds, and the ability to remain courteous and considerate while working in a demanding and stressful situation.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid Washington State Driver’s License with a five-year clean driving record, for auto liability coverage through Virginia Mason Medical Center.
Preferred: 2 years uniformed officer or guard experience in a healthcare setting or an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.
