Extrusion Support Lead: B shift (M-W 6:30pm-6:30am; TH 6:30pm-12:30am)

OPPORTUNITY This position is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and support to the Extrusion Support department through packing, trailer loading, and material handling of aluminum parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive.

Provide, promote and ensure a safe work environment throughout the entire facility by following all safety programs and policies Continuously build relationships throughout the department in order to best serve and support co-workers and employees Provide leadership to Extrusion department team members: Ensure expectations and responsibilities are known and followed Ensure proper resourcing and staffing Communicate priorities and project assignments Monitor employee performance and evaluations Provide continuing education, training and development, and coaching opportunities Delegate special projects Develop and implement adequate cross-training Set up and run equipment safely and efficiently in order to maximize output while meeting customer quality requirements Understand and verify manufacturing orders in order to identify internal and customer specifications Monitor and make correct process changes for packing the product or changing rates Conduct all processes and procedures in accordance with department guidelines Load trailers based on customer specifications Load trailers and operate cranes in a safe and efficient manner Receive billets and dump scrap bins Distribute baskets to and from press lines Ensure presses have adequate spacers in order to continue efficient work flow Perform inspection of product prior to entering the aging oven Check hardness per alloy and temper Provide press support Keep work area clean and orderly using 5S system OTHER JOB DUTIES : (Not considered essential to the job) Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent degree Experience: 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred Blue print reading Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to recognize safety concerns Knowledgeable in companywide computer systems and programs Ability to utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated cell area A highly motivated self-starter Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic math skills Ability to detect minor defects in the finish of the product Ability to read die drawings and inspect parts according to customer specifications Ability to properly use appropriate measuring tools Knowledge of the age cycle and the effect it has on the material Teamwork Strong listening skills Ability to provide strong servant leadership skills and support to team members Ability to take part in continuous education and training Strong knowledge and understanding of all key extrusion department components Blueprint reading EQUIPMENT USED Office Equipment (computer, phone, printer, scanner, copier and fax machine) Basket Lifts Calipers Deburring Machines Forklifts Hand Tools Hydraulic Carts Label Machine Overhead Crane Pallet Lifts Portable Lifts Saws Shrink Wrapper Tape Measurer Tractor Trailer BENEFITS Medical and Dental Insurance, a Flexible Spending Account, a robust Wellness Program, and a Family Health & Wellness Clinic (Alexandria location), provide our employees with valuable resources to help them care for their physical well-being.
