Substitute Food Service Worker Job Description
An ESS substitute food service worker plays an integral role in preparing and delivering meals to students in a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all duties assigned by the head cook/school administration in the selection, preparation, and serving of food
Set up and merchandise food and food service areas
Serve appropriate quantities of food items to meet federal and school guidelines
Serve children with a positive attitude
Report any equipment needing repair to the food service manager
Report accidents to the food service manager immediately
Maintain a clean and safe food service environment; perform sanitation duties to ensure that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned according to state regulations
Assist with the accurate keeping of records and ordering of supplies
Store, utilize, and dispose of food and supplies following federal, state, local, and district regulations
Some employees may be asked to run a cash register
Perform other duties as directed by the school administration or ESS
Knowledge & Skills
Follow oral and written directions
Work cohesively with peers, supervisors, school personnel, and students
Apply and maintain standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene
Operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, mixers, etc.; and use safe food handling practices to ensure the safety of students
Work with frequent interruptions
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and/or parent information
Special Requirements
Candidate must attend an orientation/training session and complete required district and state credentialing requirements (Background check, Fingerprinting)
Physical Requirements
Frequent sitting, walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 50 pounds; other physical activities may be required
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels
Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
Ability to occasionally work in conditions below 32 degrees
Daily personal and close contact with children
Regular contact with other staff members and building administrator(s) is required on assigned days as a substitute

Substitute Custodian Job Description
An ESS substitute custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students can focus on learning.
In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance duties before, during, and after school hours and during school vacations
Clean all areas of school buildings according to district standards, including floors, windows, furniture, and restrooms
Remove trash and recycling
Assist in the setup and tear-down of decorations and furniture for school events and programs
Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate areas of the building
Complete all grounds keeping duties such as mow and trim around the school building and ensure that the school grounds are free from litter and debris
Handle minor repair and maintenance activities such as bulb replacement and floor buffing
Perform other duties as directed by the head custodian and school administration
Knowledge & Skills

Prior school janitor/custodian experience preferred

Sub Clerical (Transportation Call Center)
Customer Service
Support and assist in providing quality services to students, staff, administrators,
board members and the community.
Organize and complete office projects, such as the preparation and distribution of invitations
and special mailings; the assembly of guides, manuals, and training materials; etc.
Respond
to inquiries from internal and external parties by phone, email, letter.
Take customer calls and provide accurate, satisfactory answers to their queries and concerns
Fast-paced environment
Work hours 5:00 am
– 12 pm or 11:00am
– 6pm M-F
30-35 hours per week
Off-peak hour reduction
Classified as temporary
6 weeks to 10 months (follows school calendar)
Staffing based on productivity (customer service, number of call logs, and calls
answered)
Maintain a standardized filing system, filing processes, and record retention requirements
for assigned records.
Set confidentiality standards for department records according to federal, state, and
local regulations and applicable district policy.
Maintain records and data in computerized information systems.
Create, distribute, and process forms to collect needed information.
