CSS is seeking support staff to work with adults with severe autism who want a physically active day, which may include hiking, swimming, learning soccer and basketball skills in addition to engaging in daily living and social activities.

CSS will provide specific training for each support staff as to how to include a person with autism in community activities.Supporting individuals with autism in learning skills to allow them to live more independently in addition to providing some selfcare.

Individuals receiving support may require assistance with bathing, dressing, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and accessing social and recreational activities.

Many have limited communication skills and engage in challenging behavior.

Direct support professionals work with nurses and psychologists to implement plans to teach individuals more independence and safe ways to achieve their goals.COVID-19 considerations: To keep all employees and the individuals supported safe, PPE and training on the use of PPE is provided following CDC guidelines.

Additional cleaning completed throughout the day to protect all against COVID-19.COVID-19 Vaccination Required.

REQUIRED TRAINING/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONSCompletion and demonstration of techniques taught in the MANDT, CPR & First Aid training’s, other training’s as required by CSS which are provided in orientation.Successfully complete annual re-certification of the MANDT.Recommended to have a valid driver’s license and a driving record free of any moving violations for the past two (2) years.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEmployee must be able to effectively use non-adverse physical intervention strategies with individuals with autism of varying heights, weights and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.CSS is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization which provides services and support to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities residing within Montgomery County, Maryland.

CSS was founded in 1994 and began its mission by working collaboratively with individuals, families, and other lead agencies to design and implement new models of service.

CSS provides residential services in 50 homes in upper Montgomery County, where two individuals reside in each home with one or two support staff providing care and supervision.
