WANT TO HELP YOUR COMMUNITY?RESIDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST FULL TIME –Newburgh, NYShift: Friday Tuesday 3pm 11pm Per Diem hours are also available in all of our programs in Newburgh, Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie ,especially holidays and when staff are on vacation or are out ill .

Responsibilities include:mentoring, documentation, security camera monitoring and enforcement of program rules.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in English required.

Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Ability to lift, carry and move heavy objects, tour property, walk distances and climb stairs.

Ability to prioritize, make judgment calls, perform proper notifications, and make appropriate decisions.

Ability to relate to the undeserved, homeless and disabled populations.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume limited, assigned responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible and maintain a high level of attention to details.

Ability to provide a safe, secure environment and to identify and defuse conflicts until a CHI social services staff member provides professional intervention.

Must have good negotiation skills as well as be able to be in control and de-escalate situations.

Must be reliable and dependable.

Being at work in all types of situations and weather is a priority.

Living locally is a positive.

Hiring is based on related job experience working with the homeless, positive references, education (GED or above), criminal background check, Child abuse registry check, Social Security background check as well as a drug test.

Position is available immediately.
