Assistant Business Analyst (production support & operational initiatives)

This is a Full-time position in New York, NY posted December 4, 2021.

Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial firm located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

The Assistant Business Analyst is primarily responsible for ensuring that the Client Benefits and Education (CBE), Church Insurance Corporation (CIC), and Church Publishing Incorporated (CPI) business units are fully supported when defining and prioritizing production support enhancements and operational initiatives (OIs). The incumbent will work closely with CBE, CIC, and CPI business units and ITS to develop comprehensive business requirements used for development and acceptance testing.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist CBE, CIC, and CPI business units when developing business requirements for prioritized production support enhancements and OIs, ensuring that impact analysis, data governance requirement reviews, and other information necessary to develop complete and accurate business requirements are included and considered.
  • Liase between business units and ITS during functional requirement development.
  • Coordinate and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for CBE product enhancements, OIs, and projects, including resource scheduling, kick-off meetings, test script development, troubleshooting, and bug reporting. Coordinate with project management, business units, developers, and QA to manage UAT, remediation of issues found during testing, and deployment of the approved product. Coordinate with business units to ensure appropriate staffing resources are available for requirements development and UAT.
  • Monitor, document, and follow-up on post-implementation problems and revision requests.
  • Attend ITS daily stand-up and planning meetings to monitor progress for enhancements and OIs.
  • Assist Associate Business Analyst with daily management of the governance process, including maintaining tracking information.
  • As data steward, serve as Subject Matter Expert for assigned data domains, with accountability and responsibility to define, control and maintain data and business rules within those domains. Represent viewpoints of data from a business standpoint.
  • Assist AVP, Business Operations with prioritized initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong communication and team-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and collaborate with colleagues and ITS staff.
  • Proven ability to deliver results with minimal direction.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to process information quickly and act to resolve issues.
  • Ability to effectively utilize core CPG and business-specific applications and systems.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodology.
  • Experience in working with project and ITS management tools, including PowerSteering, Wrike, Monday.com, and Jira.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of related work experience.
