Appalachian Community Services (ACS) an ncgCARE partner, provides mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual/developmental disability services to individuals and families within the seven western counties of North Carolina.

These services include counseling and psychiatry, substance use treatment, mobile and residential crisis stabilization, intensive in-home, community support teams, peer support, and group homes.Current openings and hours available in Murphy, Robbinsville and Waynesville, NC.Starting rate of $12/hourPaid trainingPaid mileageFull time, Part time schedulesHealth insurance for full time employeesDental insurance for full time employeesHealth Savings Account with employer contributionDisability insurancePaid time off for full time employeesEmployee referral bonusDSPs provide direct support services, companion services and/or respite care to young adults and adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities (I/DD).Services are provided to the clients at home and/or in the community setting, in accordance with the Person Centered Plan (PCP).Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are directly supervised by a Team Leader, as well as the IDD Program Director.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESAssists individuals in learning and developing new skills.Provides and maintains a safe environment for the consumers.Assists the consumer with attaining goals in order to have positive outcomes as described in the individual’s PCP.Utilize positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques.Performs or assists the consumer with home maintenance activities as prescribed in the ISP.Completes accurate documentation of the services.Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned.TRAINING:All employees will be required to complete the mandatory training for state compliance purposes.
