If you have a positive attitude, have excellent work ethics, are interested in joining a team of dedicated professionals, and want to make us “Your Employer of Choice” we want to talk to you!Overview:Splicer Fiber’s primary responsibilities include ability to splice/test/repair cables/wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing diagrams, maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and taking splicing field notes.All Splicer Fiber candidates must adhere to strict safety standards while ensuring the highest quality of work is completed efficiently and timely.Responsibilities:Splicer Fibers perform tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of cableSplicer Fibers Prep, Dress, Store fiber optic cabling to specifications and assemble equipment according to design specifications.Splicer Fibers Perform fiber optic splicing as well as understand engineering and splicing drawingsSplicer Fibers Read, interpret and understand fiber matrix, plant design files and complete required documentation files, such as asbuilts in electronic and/or hard copy as required.Prep of armored/unarmored cables, ribbon and loose tube fiber, mid-sheaths.Installation and re-enter of various enclosure types, patch panel, muxs e.G.
(WDM / CWDM / DWDM).Installation and dressing of fiber optic cables (vertical/horizontal).Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installationHanging and securing of enclosures and storage loops in aerial/ underground locations.Maintain proper inventory on vehicles based on work assignment.Splicer Fibers safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed (potentially climb poles)Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicleComplete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete ” As-built maps” for areas built and track daily production.Splicer Fibers reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts.Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.Splicer Fibers frequently work independentlyOther splicing related duties as assignedQualifications:Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checkMust have previous experience splicing fiber optic and/or copper cableAbility to distinguish colorsSplicer Fibers must be able to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagramsHave knowledge of telecommunications network structureMust have a high school diploma or equivalentPossess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the positionMust be able to work nights, weekends, and extended hours if necessaryMust be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
Preferred Qualifications Splicer Fiber:Certified and/or relevant experience entering confirmed spacesCertified and/or relevant experience operating aerial lift trucksExperience operating and maintaining fusion splicing equipmentExperience operating and maintaining (optical time domain reflectometer) OTDR’sPhysical Requirements:Splicer Fibers must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
