Find below a listing of essential functions related to the title of Machine Operator.

  • Interpret and understand process print dimensions and tolerances.
  • Change and index cutting tools (Inserts)
  • Ability to follow tool path drawings or other documentation necessary in maintaining part specifications, especially at tool change.
  • Capable of measuring part features using basic hand gages. (Micrometers, calipers etc.)
  • Must off-set the X and Z axis to bring part dimension into specification after tool changes.
  • Able to perform daily equipment PM. (fluid levels, chuck lubrications etc.) – see fluid duty below
  • Computer skills for recording production and scrap; Complete daily cell production sheet –use of PLEX – Operate and record required Plex documentation (i.e. – hourly checks, downtime, etc.)
  • SPC charting/checks
  • Responsive to safety concerns
  • Forklift & floor scrubber operation
  • Assist Set-up at all times while at the cell (with, but not limited to change-overs, Touching off tools; Indicating Tooling blocks; Indicating Chucks)
  • Changing Takamaz and CZ tools
  • Adheres to S^4 (which includes 5S) and general area clean-up
  • Filter bag replacement with Set-up assistance as needed
  • Cleaning, mastering and basic troubleshooting of in-line gages
  • Maintain established run rates
  • Adhere to all quality systems and policies as established
  • Basic machine trouble shooting prior to assistance
  • Dumpers are to ensure they do not overload the hopper in the back yard (clean up any chips seen on the ground)
  • Monitor and maintain all fluids to acceptable levels
  • Maintain cell inventory management – raw, finished and discrepant; record scrap
  • Other job duties/functions as needed or necessary to ensure continued production flow
  • Packaging of finished goods in cell
  • Adhere to Work Instructions and Work Standards, etc.

Specific Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

A Machine Operator will have an understanding of manufacturing processes, daily operations, material handling, quality criteria, safety and trouble shooting ability.  Machine Operators must also possess basic math skills such as addition, subtraction and working with decimals, in both inches and metrics.

Qualification Requirements:

Preferable for Machine Operators to have a minimum 2 years of experience in automotive, metal production or forging industries.

Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of CNC production machining operation, safety and quality requirements

Education:

High school diploma/ GED is required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for 8-12 hours.

Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 5-50 lbs.

Associate must have the ability to push/ pull, bend, stoop, kneel and withstand temperature variations within the plant.

Must be able to be in an area and withstand loud noise

Safety:

Must adhere to all safety requirements.  Must show willingness to demonstrate S4 principles in daily job duties.

Behavior:

Attention to detail, maintain a productive attitude, and willingness to take the extra steps needed to ensure the job is done correctly.
