Performs clerical and receptionist duties as it applies to remote site Blood Draw Stations.
Performs approved ancillary testing and collects specimens.
Distributes laboratory results-reports, responds professionally to phone/individual inquiries and coordinates patient visits for lab services.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.

Communicates with ancillary staff in an effective and professional manner.

Coordinates patient visit to minimize the patient’s wait time.
1.1 Processes paperwork within a few minutes of receipt as observed by supervisor or from patient feedback.

Collects appropriate specimens such as blood, urine, cultures, etc.
based on Physician orders.
2.1 Explains protocols and answers patients questions regarding specimen collection in a professional manner as observed by supervisor and as evidenced by feedback from patients and/or staff.

Performs laboratory data entry events associated with specimen collection.
3.1 Performs correct test order entry based on written Physician orders for laboratory testing.
4.
Prepares Specimens for transport to the main Laboratory.
4.1 Documents pertinent Blood Bank information, as needed for transfusion, or any other unique information required to insure appropriate distribution of laboratory related information, as evidenced by random review or department feedback 5.
Maintains departmental records and supplies.
5.1 Maintains daily patient documentation log as evidenced by periodic review of patient log by supervisor.
6.
Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.
6.1 Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescent to old age and applies developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and/or indicated by feedback from patient or staff.
7.
Participates in additional activities that are necessary to satisfy department needs and requirements.
7.1 Assists in implementing changes in existing procedures as designated by departmental needs as indicated by feedback and observed by supervisor.
Qualifications EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation of a Phlebotomy program preferred.
EXPERIENCE Phlebotomy experience preferred; Laboratory specimen processing skills helpful.
LICENSURE Phlebotomy Certification and CPR preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS Good interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of general Laboratory and diagnostic terms.
PHYSICAL DEMAND While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
