GENERAL FUNCTION
This position encompasses the dual responsibilities of operating a group of injection molding machines and training on setting up and adjusting a group of similar machines. Operate and monitor the performance of a group of injection molding machines in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production and quality standards. Monitors and records machine processes, visually inspects product, prepares product for release, and maintains and controls all quality equipment. Participate in the team building concept. Performs all duties as requested in career block 1 and 2 and is actively training on career block 2T. Participates in all team meetings, activities, team building initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform/audit first/last article checks according to Manufacturing Document 85.
Responsible for monitoring all auxiliary equipment for proper operation and grinding runners where applicable.
Responsible for weighing and labeling each bag, box, or tote using the utility computer. Ensure all labels are correct according to the work order information.
Prepare parts for shipment to the warehouse by properly labeling each box or tote by stamping Final Release and stacking on the appropriate pallets.
Responsible for performing dimensional and visual quality checks according to the appropriate procedures within the department.
Responsible for documentation of the quality checks and corrective actions on the Molding Inspection Record. Prepare all paperwork for upcoming changes.
Responsible for proper handling and documentation of rejected product on the injection molding machines.
Responsible for the housekeeping of the injection molding machines and surrounding areas as defined in the department procedures.
Maintain an open line of communication to assure all problems and changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.
Train on the set up of assigned molds, machines and auxiliary equipment and monitor assigned work cells observing overall process and quality of molded parts, making minor repairs as necessary to this equipment.
Work actively to interpret the root causes of quality issues.
Complete all required paperwork such as line clearance, mold history, process run sheet, and safety check sheet.
Properly identify materials, material placement, mixing and numbering procedures. Set up hoppers and troubleshoot other auxiliary equipment used in material flow.
Clean and maintain grinders.
Participate on safety, emergency response, and 5S teams and monthly Safety Meetings and other teams and meetings as required or required
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Effective written and oral communication skills (English), math skills, and interpersonal skills
One to four years of manufacturing experience preferred (at least one year of injection molding machine experience preferred) and must be able to certify in Career Block One and Two
