Machine Operator

Job Description Summary As part of a team, under the Specialties Supervisor, sets up, operates and maintains millwork equipment to produce products to written specifications. This position reports directly to the Supervisor of Specialties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Operate machinery to produce Homasote fiber board products per required specifications. · Monitor product quality while in production, and adjust as needed. · Follow job jacket instructions, maintain product counts and associated documentation. · Set up jobs, and lead efficient product change overs. · Observe equipment operation for malfunctions and required maintenance · Keep daily production and time records, properly identify finished materials. · Perform routine corrective and preventative maintenance work. · Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition. · Work assignment is on day shift with overtime as needed. · Is subject to 24 hour call. · Performs other duties as directed. Education and/or Experience · High School Diploma · Candidate must be mechanically inclined · Manufacturing equipment operation is desireable · Fork Lift Certification a plus Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check · Must be legally authorized to work in the United States · Excellent organizational skills and able to do basic math · Ability to operate computer touch screen. · Able to work independently with attention to detail · Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment · Able to respond to stressful situations in a professional, courteous manner · Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours · Able to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines · Able to train and direct other employees · Must have reliable form of transportation · Must have either a cell phone or home land line Language Skills · Fluency in English · Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus but not required · Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management and executives Reasoning Ability • Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions • Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form • Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze and interpret, operating & maintenance instructions or regulations Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. · Able to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, or controls · Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus · May require sitting or standing for extended periods of time · Able to move/carry objects up to 50 lbs Work Environment · While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, but safety equipment is provided. · The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but safety equipment is provided. · Exposed to an appreciable amount of unpleasant work conditions; heat, dirt, dust, oil, wetness and other variables. · Exposed to probability of electrical shock, falls, cuts and abrasion.
