Machine Operator – 1st

Summerville, Train on 1st shift, move to 2nd shift, Bar Machine SUMMARYThe Machine Operator may operate one or more variety of machines to include breakdowns, singles, intermediates, furnace, tandem, peeler, cleaning line, re-spooling, etc.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Setting up equipment according to work order traveler (WOT)Input data into MES computer systemInput machine issues into Machine Diary.Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with maintenance.Verify the correct die, lubricant and cutters are set up for the job performingPrepare salt/chalk bath including check temperature and concentration (as applicable)Set up and maintain Eddy Current where requiredAchieve desired cast and helix per WOTPerform quality checks Properly label finished materialProvide samples to Quality for testingMaintain expected production speed based on the WOTTroubleshoot process problemsFollow protocol based on Quality Management Systems.

Support, develop and implement continuous improvement process and ideas.Operate forklift if identified as an authorized user.Other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility.Ability to read and write clearlyMechanical aptitude a plus.Forklift license required for some machines.Ability to use and read micrometers and other measuring devices.Knowledge or aptitude with hand tools.Ability to work as part of a team.Able to qualify at 85% knowledge of operating on one or more machines within 90 days.
