Laborer Job Description ASI Construction LLC Position: + Laborer Department: + Operations Status: + Hourly (Non-Exempt)/At-Will Location: + Initial assignment will be the Atoka Dam Spillway Project in Atoka, Oklahoma. + Future assignments will vary, depending on job location. Supervisor: + Superintendent or Foreman as assigned Purpose: + This position will support the operations of the construction project by assisting the site crew with duties such as: carrying materials, spotting equipment during operation, using tools for bolt up, performing manual excavation/backfilling using shovels, applying coatings and rock shield to underground pipe, and operating small equipment at the direction of management. The position will also complete all other duties as assigned by the Foreman and/or Superintendent. Responsibilities: + Assist other craft workers, carpenters, operators, welders, fabricators, etc. + Clean, sweep, remove trash and debris from construction work areas. + Attend to pumps, compressors and generators. + Assist with erecting and disassembling scaffolding and other temporary structures. + Demolition. + Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials to the appropriate locations. + Operate small tools such as shovels, picks, rakes, etc. in order to place or remove materials. + Assist with machine lubrication and maintenance. + Operate a variety of small equipment/tools including pavement breakers, jackhammers, earth tampers, torches, small mechanical hoists, and concrete, mortar, and/or plaster mixers, etc. + Other duties as required. Experience: + 0-2 years of construction or related experience. Skills: + Ability to clearly communicate with supervisors and co-workers. + Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. + Ability to learn and gain knowledge. + Ability to follow work orders or receive instructions. + Ability to adhere to Safety policies and procedures. + Ability to work on forms and scaffolding at heights; they must also be knowledgeable in PFAS (Personal Fall Arrest Systems). Experience and/or training in 100% tie-off situations is highly desired. + The Companys construction laborer should have their own standard hand tools; the company will provide PPE and power tools. The following list describes the minimum ability requirements for field personnel. + Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. + Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) short distances (20 feet or less). + Move light objects (less than 50 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet). + Heavy lifting with stooping, carrying and bending. + Work long shifts with non-standard break times. + Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements. + Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation which takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting. + Must have vision equal to or better than is required for driving. + If corrective lenses are required to achieve this level of vision, the employee must be able to wear PPE without interfering with the corrective lenses or the required PPE. + The employee may have to purchase eyeglasses (safety glass, etc.) that are compliant with the Companys Safety Program and OSHA/MSHA requirements. + Must have good hand-eye coordination. + Must have quick reaction times. + Must be able to hear adequately enough to be alerted by horns, sirens, shouting, or any other noise that is meant to convey a safety warning. + If corrective device is required to achieve this level of hearing, the employee must be able to wear PPE without interfering with the corrective device or the required PPE. + Lift arms above shoulder level (i.e., throws bags into a truck). + Must have good balance and must not be clumsy. + Climb ladders or steps to reach objects. + Must be able to work at heights of up to 100 or more. + Must be able to work in confined or enclosed spaces. + Must be able to sit for long periods of time. + Must be able to stand for long periods of time. + Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots. + Must be able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more). + Understand and follow oral and written instructions. + Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others. Licenses or Certifications: + Valid drivers license. + OSHA 10 Certification preferred. Education: + High School Diploma or GED equivalent Travel: + Travel is required. + Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
