Forklift Operator -3rd Shift

This is a Contract position in Sandston, VA posted November 28, 2021.

Position Title Forklift Operator -3rd Shift

Status Hourly Non-exempt


Kind of Work

Administrative and physical labor

Difficulty and Responsibility of Work

Exercises independent judgment, decision-making, and troubleshooting for systematic logistical and production issues. Supports internal and external customers by communicating and executing accurately. Inputs data in to a warehouse management system (WMS).

Essential Duties

  • Unloads trucks and stage material in Receiving area
  • Receives purchase orders via RF
  • Verifies condition, quantity and part number of received materials
  • Verifies pallet labels
  • Puts inventory away
  • Picks orders for production lines
  • Stages material for production lines
  • Maintains forklifts daily (checklist provided)
  • Audits FGI partial pallets and resolves discrepancies
  • Performs consolidations of partial pallets with like part numbers as directed by a lead or supervisor
  • Processes inbound and outbound material to include creating and processing packing slips as well as other clerical functions
  • Removes all unusable material from production lines
  • Maintains housekeeping
  • Performs all other duties assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed on all lift trucks
  • Familiarity with RF equipment
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions)
  • Ability to organize and set priorities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Must be able to stand for an extended period while driving a lift truck

Conditions of Employment

  • Willing to work in a Continuous Improvement Team environment
  • Willingness to work variety of shifts or across shifts, as required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Walks, bends, lifts and stoops approximately 80% of shift
  • Must be able to work alternate shifts
  • Must be able to work overtime if required
