Craftsman Job Description Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.
Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
• Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
• Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
• Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
• Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
• Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
• Read technical information needed to perform maintenance or repairs.
• Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
• Clean work areas as task are performed.
Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
• Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order.
• Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.
Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
• Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
• Plan work procedures.
• Lay out work according to specifications.
Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.
• Fabricate parts or components.
Perform general cleaning duties of buildings or properties.
• Clean work areas.
Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
• Paint surfaces or equipment.
Align and balance new equipment after installation.
• Align equipment or machinery.
Provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping or snow removal.
Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Operate welding equipment.
Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
• Measure distances or dimensions.
Fabricate or repair counters, benches, partitions, or other wooden structures, such as sheds or outbuildings.
• Assemble structural components.
Job Requirements: Proven management and leadership experience within a demanding environment Maintain all building codes, installation requirements and relevant legislation New Run out nightly supporting the Rockford IL Distribution Center Prepare glass for cutting by resting on rack edges or against cutting tables and brushing thin layer of oil along cutting lines or dipping cutting tools in oil Mitigate hazards associated with work through Safe Work independently to create own business and value the independence of working on own schedule Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures and electrical components Supervise a team of Level I and Level II Installers reporting to / for direction and answers to questions concerning installation problems Travel up to 4 days during the week Connect heating or air conditioning equipment to fuel, water, or refrigerant source to form complete circuit Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work area Replace defective equipment, components, or wiring Discuss heating or cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctions Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to process instrumentation and plant electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on plant electrical equipment including MCC’s, motor starters, circuit breakers, lighting and power panels, motors, lighting fixtures Calibrate, and maintain plant instrumentation including pneumatic & electronic instruments, control valves, sensors, analyzers, and temperature, pressure, level and flow devices Cut, fit, install, repair, or replace glass or glass substitutes, such as plastic or aluminum, in building interiors or exteriors or in furniture Developing new standard and system solutions Perform routine inspections on vehicle and clean inside of truck Contact the Installation Manager for guidance in resolving any problem
