Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, performs tasks such as masking off paint areas and applying paint, varnish, stain, or enamel to decorate and protect. Performs skilled work that is generally routine and repetitive in nature and follows an established pattern. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Responds to paint and drywall repair requests. Assist Refurbishing as required. Completes monthly preventative paint and drywall requests. Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, sheetrock, concrete and wood. Performs building exterior and interior caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks. Removes fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting. Performs decorating, including wall coverings made of paper, vinyl or fabric. Keeps current on safety issues and procedures to include safety plans, MSDS, and regulations. Works with the Marketing Departments to ensure the quality and efficiency of all painting and decorating operations. Is responsible for purchasing materials from approved vendors on a timely basis. Ensures that an adequate supply of materials is available: orders, receives, inspects, and stores equipment, merchandise, commodities, materials, and/or supplies. May operate equipment such as airless spray equipment. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs minor drywall repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing texture. Attends all meetings as required and assists other departments as needed. Knowledge and Skills: -Has knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the painting and wall covering decorating trade. -Is skilled in the use and care of equipment and tools used in the painting trade. -Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures -Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations. Education and Experience: -High school diploma or GED equivalent required -Preferably has three years of experience in the painting and wall covering trade Communication Skills: -Has a clear speaking voice and is fluent in English. Being bilingual would be a plus. -Has ability to speak, work and interface with all levels of co-workers, residents, guests and employees. -Has ability to write routine reports and correspondence. -Demonstrates excellent customer service etiquette.
