Construction Manager

We provide services to a broad spectrum of clients, including all levels of government agencies, public and private enterprises / partnerships.nn nn nn Alpha Corporation’s vision is to be recognized by clients for responsive, innovative, and quality services in the building, transportation, and infrastructure sectors, and to be the employer of choice for professionals seeking stimulating and rewarding careers.nn nn nn We are currently hiring a Construction Manager for the VDOT NOVA District to oversee Locally Administered Projects (LAP).nn nn nn Responsibilities: nn nn nn The Construction Manager will be responsible for providing management oversight and contract administration of LAP projects and oversee the steps necessary for a locality to proactively manage and close out projects from beginning of construction to completion.

This position will be embedded at a VDOT residency and will report directly to a VDOT Area Construction Engineer (ACE).

Duties will include all assignments as directed by the ACE and will include but not limited to:nn nn
· Oversight of construction activities at a frequency determined by the ACEnn
· Perform project audits to include a review of all documentation such as DWR’s, Materials Notebooks, Buy America Certifications, Delivery Tickets, Test Reports, Certifications, LT assignments, etc.

Audits will be performed at a frequency determined by the ACE.nn
· Attend preconstruction meetings, project meetings, and all other meetings as assigned by the ACE.nn
· Review change orders to ensure that the contractor is entitled to compensation and that the scope of the change order is within the project scope; coordinate concerns with the locality; then make recommendations to the ACE as to the approval or denial of the change order.nn
· Coordination of project concerns between the locality and VDOTnn
· Respond to concerns, answer questions, and provide guidance to the localities regarding the LAP procedures and manual.nn
· Communicating and interacting with team members and authorities involved in the LAP project requiring strong communication skillsnn
· Report writingnn
· Performing oversight inspection of schedule milestonesnn
· Review monthly payment vouchers submitted by the locality, ensure all documentation is up to date, and then make recommendations as to whether locality is to be reimbursed.

Coordinate with VDOT Civil Rights Division to ensure that all documentation is current before payment is recommended.nn n n Job Requirements: n The qualifications for a Construction Manager include:nn nn
·         Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction Management or related fieldnn
·         Minimum of 5 years’ experience in field managing facilities and civil / transportation projectsnn
·         Minimum of 7 years of experience in all facets of roadway construction and duties as a CM nn
·         Must have current VDOT material certifications in soil and aggregate compaction, concrete, asphalt, and pavement markings nn
·         Experience with Locality Administered Projects (LAP)nn
·         Certified Construction Manager (CCM) from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) is preferred but not required.nn
