Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
Scope of Position:
- Lead Melting process installations (rebuilds)
- Lead new Melting construction activities in alignment to standard quality installation procedures
Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop and promote “good” project management practices in technology area
- Investigate and adapt new equipment installation technologies as needed or supported
- Investigate and recommend equipment modifications to technology area design team
- Provide equipment troubleshooting for operations as needed
- Management of assigned technology-area equipment projects, worldwide
- Lead procurement of rebuild and spare parts from various vendors
- On-site leadership for installation and debug of technology area equipment
Education & Experience:
- We require a BS degree in engineering (ceramic, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical), other degress can also be considered
- We are seeking 5 years of experience in construction, maintenance, rebuilds, manufacturing, process, maintenance
- Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools
- Lead teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures
- Self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
- Knowledge in electrical, mechanical and project engineering
- Knowledge in construction and installation of manufacturing equipment
- Use and promotion of Project Management “best” practices
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge in Glass manufacturing
- Knowledge and use of a problem-solving process (i.e.
KT)
- Hands-on mechanical skills
- 4 Fundamental understanding of basic machining
- Basic AutoCAD or equivalent skills
- 5 years’ experience in engineering or science background business (prefer glass or ceramic manufacturing)
Travel:
- Up to 25% international when rebuild activities in home plant are low
