Building and Construction Project Manager

This is a Full-time position in Birmingham, AL posted January 27, 2022.

Job Description: Reporting to the Store Development Manager, the PM is responsible for the onsite administration of all new buildings and renovations. They are responsible for overseeing vendors, monitoring time schedules and budgets and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within the prescribed budget. They establish and maintain strong relationships between the vendors, building landlords and the company

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plans, Executes and Completes the project- working under the direction of the Store Development Manager provided the onsite execution of all phases of the construction project.
  • Team Coordination- works closely with all subcontractors including architects and engineers, to facilitate coordination of schedules and tasks, change orders, meetings, arrival of equipment and other products.
  • Manages expectations for completion on time, within budget and at the highest level of excellence. Handles schedules and makes adjustment to remain on track.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting reports related to budget, progress of projects, delays or incidents
  • Troubleshoots and offers alternative solutions that might cause a delay in the process
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A degree In Construction Management, Business, Civil Engineering or similar program of study preferred
  • An associate degree in Construction Management required.
  • At least 3-4 years of related experience managing multiple commercial projects

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and have experience with programs such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Revit, SharePoint, VectorWorks, Adobe
  • Ability to read and interpret Construction Drawings and Specifications
  • Ability to develop and manage project budgets, schedule, negotiate and control costs
  • Must be able to lead, direct, and support other team members
  • Must have knowledge of construction law and familiarity & understanding of Terms & Conditions with Contract & Subcontract Documents

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
