The Forklift Operator/Material Handler is responsible for all activities on the dock. These duties include but are not limited to:Pulling and preparing daily orders, with a focus on accuracy and speedLoading and unloading trucksAssisting receiving function as neededWorking independently as well as in a team environmentMonitoring critical lot number recording and FIFO pulling practicesUsing dock tools and equipment in a safe and acceptable mannerWorking in a safe manner and reporting accidents immediatelyKeeping work area clean and organizedHelping to control inventory and facilitating inventory cycle countingCommunicating maintenance needs to the supervisorIn the event that hazardous waste is generated, movement to accumulation area will be requiredESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Follow customer orders, pulling correct products, staging and recording items properly in the computer systemLoading items correctly for shipmentAssisting receiving function as neededCompleting projects as assignedMust be able to stand all day, lift up to 50-75 pounds frequently, move, bend, and liftMust be able to follow detailed directions and use computer system accuratelySafely operate forklift and other warehouse equipmentRCRA Training (to be provided by Birko)Birko is an ISO 9001 Certified company. All positions require the following:Maintaining an awareness of and following proceduresIf procedures fail to result in desired outcome notifying supervisorBeing involved in updates to procedures and suggesting improvementsSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:2-3 years of order pulling experienceOrganized and detail orientedFamiliarity with UPS World Ship a plusReliable, must be at work and on time consistentlyBasic mathematical skillsForklift certification and/or trainingAble to work in a team environmentSpeak, read, and write in EnglishWorking knowledge of computers and manufacturing software
