Overview: Provides receptionist and secretarial support for Volunteer Information Desk.
Answers telephone, relays messages and directs customers/visitors to appropriate areas.
Responsibilities: Greets and directs visitors and represents a professional and helpful first impression.
Promptly and efficiently answers incoming calls and routes appropriately.
Efficiently uses paging and phone systems.Presents a calm and efficient manner while managing multiple tasks and carrying out receptionist duties.
Exhibits good judgment in tactfully handling difficult situations and responding appropriately within the environment of the hospital and community.
Assists the Volunteer Manager in ensuring customer satisfaction standards are met.Accepts new assignments and/or projects in a professional manner.Acts as a key resource for everyone that needs assistance and provides accurate information.Works collaboratively with all volunteers and Volunteer Manager as a team.Works independently and in an organized and structured manner.
Qualifications: Post high school education or vocational training preferred.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain cooperative relationships with providers, staff members, patients and the medical community.
Ability to employ tact, diplomacy and compassion with all types of people.
Must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess ability to set priorities and function as part of a team.
Must possess ability to use good judgment, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written required.
Demonstrated skill in grammar, punctuation and spelling.Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and ability to learn other software as needed.
Meditech experience preferred.Demonstrated ability to provide a supportive and sensitive approach to volunteers, staff, patients and visitors.
