POSITION PURPOSE The Department Assistant for Diagnostic Services is responsible for performing a variety of essential functions which may include, but are not limited to: answering telephones; typing; sorting/distributing mail; scheduling meetings/appointments; maintaining/updating various files and reports; maintaining office supplies, materials and equipment; monitoring and using the employee time keeping system; and performing other duties/projects as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED High School or Equivalent (GED) MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Entry Level LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
Strong clerical skills including file organization, proof reading ability and note taking during meetings.
Knowledge and experience with various computer programs/software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Internet Explorer and the Internet.
The physical, technical and cognitive ability to operate the following office equipment: photocopier, computer, fax, printer and calculator.
Ability to comprehend established office routines, policies and procedures.
Ability to learn quickly from oral and written instructions.
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Acts as a receptionist/secretary and an informational resource for, staff, management, callers and visitors.
Manages departmental paper flow.
Maintains a neat, organized filing system.
Inputs, compiles, and updates documentation; retrieves files; records data; enters computer data; and maintains computer system software.
Coordinates and participates in the scheduling of staff in designated patient care services departments.
Provides clerical and administrative support to the Patient Care Services and Administrative functions.
