As the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) you will have a direct impact on our Company’s strategy and culture and therefore will provide enterprise-wide strategic leadership, direction, advancement, coordination and hands-on implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion related programs and initiatives at Amyris.
This position will be accountable for designing, developing, and leading a cross-functional team to meet the needs of the organizations diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy.
Also, this position is responsible for developing and managing diversity, equity, and inclusion roadmap with a focus on achieving measurable, sustainable results, including improved diversity representation at all levels of the organization, and in future talent succession pipelines.
This role will serve as a thought leader, adviser, and business partner to senior leaders regarding diversity, equity and inclusion related issues, Community Engagement, and develop and implement DEIB programs.
Lastly, this role will partner with HR, executive and senior leadership to ensure diversity goals are incorporated into employee life cycle, inclusive of but not limited to recruitment and hiring, career progression, internal mobility, compensation, and retention of talent.
This role will serve as the DEIB leader/technical expert and will assemble and serve on the DEIB Committee and provide direction to our Employee Resources Groups.
You will serve as the companys spokesperson on diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging and represent the company in other internal/external forums.
Responsibilities:
• Provide vision, leadership, coordination and strategic planning for the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide plan to drive diversity and inclusion throughout the organization that is employee focused and tied to the Companys strategy and culture.
• Responsible for evolving current diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy over time to meet the needs of the business as well as aligning to external shifts and best practices.
• Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of the appropriate infrastructure (department, council, employee resource groups) to ensure effective execution of diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.
Partners with HR in developing diversity, equity and inclusion learning programs to meet the needs of the organization and its employees.
• Work collaboratively across a complete matrix organization to execute diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to increase workforce readiness, retention, and engagement.
• Partners with Human Resources and people leaders to attract, recruit, hire, engage, develop, and retain diverse talent consistent with the demographic composition relevant labor force benchmarks; assists in building pipelines of diverse talent as part of succession planning.
• Influence organizational changes that drive behaviors required to leverage diversity and sustain an inclusive work environment.
• Work in partnership with all Human Resource functions to ensure the appropriate systems, tools, processes, and metrics are established in support of the Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
• Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation across all divisions within the organization.
• This role will partner closely with Talent Acquisition, Talent Management and HR Business Partner teams to ensure consistency and alignment of services provided.
• Partner with Organization Effectiveness and Learning and Development to design and deliver diversity and inclusion training aligned with the diversity and inclusion strategy.
• Develops and implements processes and KPIs to track and monitor the return on investment of training and education.
• Provides leadership and direction to evaluate the effectiveness of Amyris’ diversity, equity, and inclusion program and activities, as well as drive accountability at individual, team, and organization-wide levels.
• Champions Amyris’ efforts to leverage diversity to succeed in the market by establishing a clear diversity, equity and inclusion message that aligns with the overall Employer brand.
• Stays abreast of best practices, external partnership opportunities, technology, and tools to compliment and inform Amyris’ diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
• Publicly represents Amyris at the local, regional, and national level by maintaining strong internal and external relationships to advance diversity building partnerships in the markets we do business.
• Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with peers and partners in key organizations and companies to benchmark and share best practices.
• Collaborates with leadership to apply a diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) lens to marketplace activities such as procurement/supply chain, marketing, product development, distribution, business growth, and external communications.
• Works with Amyris’ leaders to develop partnerships and other relationships with civic, community, and other organizations designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business; connect Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging efforts to current and future business and people strategies.
• Responsible for creating and executing clear and concise communications strategies to drive acceptance and advocacy of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
• Utilize influence to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of the organization.
• Develops strategies to eliminate barriers to diversity, inclusion, and EEO.
• Develops and recommends operating budgets within approved budget objectives.

Required Qualifications:
• 8-10 years’ experience required.
• Experience identifying, learning, facilitating, and implementing best practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion required.
• Must have prior experience successfully managing and executing numerous priorities and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Requires 10+ years of management experience in a complex business environment with significant experience managing a matrixed staff, developing strategic plans, and executing system-wide strategies and programs.
• Progressively responsible leadership experience in EEO, diversity and inclusion, and/or human resources.
• High level of cultural competence.
• Growth mindset, high level of self-awareness, and solid commitment to continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 11+ years experience preferred.
• Working in a global organization, interfacing directly with executive leadership, developing, and utilizing metrics to plan and make decisions.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Organizational Development, Business, Human Resources, Psychology, or related.
• 5+ years’ experience coaching and advising leaders and organizations.
• Demonstrated experience articulating a vision, translating it into executable strategy and driving cross-functional teams to deliver against the plan.
• Proven track record of facilitating organization-wide initiatives with multiple senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication skills exhibited at all levels within an organization.
• Experience building out programming in an organization where scaling for growth has been a feature.
