Join UChicago Medicine as a Training Specialist, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.Note: This is a grant funded roleThe Training Specialist, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity supports the design, development, implementation and evaluation of hospital-wide strategic plans to deliver ongoing staff education on trauma-informed care, cultural competence, health literacy, patient
– and family-centered care, and health equity aligned with the UCM Annual Operating Plan and Diversity and Inclusion strategy.

The Training Specialist coordinates the Cultural Competence Training Strategy, including a variety of educational offerings in order to improve cross-cultural communication and patient-centered care.

The Training Specialist is a trauma-informed, cultural competence trainer, consultant, role model, staff/patient advocate, change agent, leader and professional.

The Training Specialist develops, coaches, and mentors staff to become trainers in special topics developed by the Diversity, Inclusion and Equity department.

They also assist in the oversight and execution of the UCM Diversity and Inclusion plan.

They support the development of metrics for measuring the effectiveness of diversity education initiatives and assist in the preparation of the Diversity and Inclusion annual report of findings.

Essential Job FunctionsSupport development, implementation and evaluation of a UCM system-wide strategic plans to deliver ongoing staff education on trauma-informed care, cultural competence, health literacy, patient
– and family-centered care, and health equity.Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of educational initiatives to determine impact, achievement of outcomes and make recommendations for improvement.Serve as a subject matter expert in Diversity and Inclusion training and education initiatives that contribute to the achievement of UCM’s goals and objectives.Review current literature and health care developments to develop evidence-based educational efforts; benchmark other organizations and industries to identify applicable best practices.QualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care, Business or a related field is required.A minimum of 2 years management experience is required; 3 years preferred.Ability to learn how to support trauma-informed care training initiativesSupported implementing organization-wide staff education programsAbility to effectively challenge the status quo and implement useful non-traditional health care modelsExcellent verbal and written communication and presentation skillsKnowledge of organizational affirmative action and equal opportunity goalsPosition DetailsJob Type/FTE: 1.0 FTEShift: 8 hr.
