Role Overview This is an internal accounting advisory role.
He/She will work closely with all global real estate Finance teams, mainly North America, Asia and Australia to provide support and practical solutions to technical and transactional accounting questions, IFRS accounting analysis and the application and adoption of Brookfield’s IFRS policy and procedures.
The successful candidate should have the potential to grow into the technical accounting “go-to” person internally and become a reliable advisor to senior management in support of financial decisions.

Core Responsibilities Technical and transactional accounting support Independently apply Brookfield’s IFRS policies and procedures to provide technical and practical solutions Support all global teams in applying Brookfield’s IFRS policies and procedures Present complex transactions and accounting treatment in a clear and concise manner Determine accounting treatment for acquisitions, dispositions, restructuring and financing activities under IFRS by reviewing legal agreement and investment memos, researching accounting guidance, and collaborating with various internal or external groups (tax, legal, investment, etc.) Perform analysis and draft accounting memos in sufficient detail to meet internal documentation requirements Work closely with external and internal auditors to assist with their audit review over transactions Research accounting literature, local GAAP or IFRS, and Brookfield’s policies and procedures to perform accounting analysis, or answer accounting questions Review legal, tax and investment documents for accounting analysis Work with legal, tax and investment teams to obtain a good understanding of a transaction or restructuring activity, from both accounting and commercial perspectives Capable of conducting meaningful discussions with tax, legal and investment teams Apply logic and relevant facts to accounting analysis Identify all the potential impacts to IFRS financial statements from transactional or restructuring activities Support internal teams in drafting and/or reviewing transactional journal entries Support internal teams in drafting and/or reviewing consolidation journal entries, as related to transactional or restructuring activities Support the technical accounting aspect of the conversion from Local GAAP to IFRS, as required Special projects, as required IFRS Policy Understand and take ownership of all the aspects and nuances of Brookfield’s IFRS policies and procedures Educate and train internal teams on Brookfield’s IFRS policies and procedures Support the Global IFRS Lead in London in the maintenance and implementation of IFRS policies and procedures Teamwork And People Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Enjoy problem-solving through collaboration and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders Demonstrate curiosity and the desire to be “a student of business” (self-learning and ask the right questions) Enjoy the role as an internal adviser and technical accounting “go-to” Bring a positive, approachable and “can-do” attitude to workplace “Roll up your sleeve” mentality, no task too large or too small Strong time management and coordination skills Required Experiences And Technical Skills High attention to details 4-7 years of work experience required, with the following relevant experiences in a technical or transaction accounting role, or demonstrating strong potential in the following areas Experience in reviewing legal, tax and investment documents or other transaction documents Experience in conducting research in accounting literature Experience in independently performing accounting analysis based on relevant fact patterns and accounting guidance, and identifying areas that require judgment Experience in writing accounting memos, policy papers and/or financial reports Experience in presenting complex transaction and accounting treatment Working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS Practical knowledge of public company reporting or real asset transactions preferred Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills CPA preferred For More Details, We Encourage Applicants To Read Brookfield’s Applicant Data Protection And Privacy Notice, Found On Our Website At Brookfield, we care about your privacy and strive to protect Applicant Data throughout the recruitment process.
