Responsibilities.
The Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the Corporate Tax Team.
This individual will assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings and support the accounting for income taxes process, audit defense, and tax technology initiatives.
In addition, this position will assist with tax research and special projects.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who can work collaboratively, maintain confidences, communicate effectively, and demonstrate good judgement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:.
Apply knowledge of income tax law to various types of entities (corporate and flow-thru) within a large multinational organization..
Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns and various other required tax filings, including franchise tax and property tax filings..
Prepare state and local allocation and apportionment..
Prepare federal, state, and local quarterly estimated tax payments..
Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end income tax provision on a U.S.
GAAP basis..
Identify, research, and assess various tax issues as they arise and provide recommendations..
Assist with and support tax planning and research projects..
Assist in audit defense matters with various governmental agencies, including researching, gathering information, and preparation of responses to information requests or tax notices..
Serve as a champion to improve current tax processes with the use of technology and assist with implementation..
Qualifications.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting..
Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred..
CPA certification or working towards obtaining within 1-2 years of employment..
Knowledge of Accounting/Tax principles and practices..
Strong attention to detail and accuracy..
Exceptional organizational skills..
Strong written and verbal communication skills..
Ability to conceptualize, organize and articulate..
Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information..
Flexible and adaptable..
Ability to coordinate and maintain follow-up on a number of projects simultaneously..
Advanced skills in MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint..
Knowledge of Alteryx and Tableau..
Proficiency in tax software application, such as OneSource..
Client service focused that anticipates internal clients in a manner that shows a commitment to continuous improvement and delivers high quality output..
