Strategic Financial Business AnalystPosition Summary:This position combines expertise in clinical/financial data sources with a strong understanding of the healthcare industry to assess strategic, financial, and business development related opportunities.
Types of analysis and reporting include, but are not limited to service line profitability analysis, care variation reporting, proforma development and ROI analysis on new programs and services, competitor analysis, and other ad-hoc analysis.
This position supports and maintains key strategic and financial data sources including cost accounting, service line crosswalks, and financial benchmark databases.
Areas of focus include growth planning, market share assessment, development of new programs and services, capital planning, and other enterprise and service line priorities as directed.Responsibilities:+ Responsible for leveraging data systems and analysis to support strategic planning, business development, and financial decision-making+ Leverages Epic Clarity, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and other enterprise data systems to develop queries from Epic Electronic Heath Record (EHR) and perform data analysis to address strategic and clinical business needs+ Utilizes and works with legacy data systems as needed (i.e., Meditech, Premier, etc.)+ Identifies and accesses key data sources needed for new data projects, interacts with customers from all service lines and is responsive in providing data and ad hoc analyses+ Analyzes and presents information compiled for strategic and operational decision making+ Partners with Strategic Planning & Business Development department and other enterprise stakeholders including service line leaders, executives and physicians to support strategic data projects, data tracking, and analytics and provide strategic/financial decision support+ Summarizes analysis into reports or presentations for visual delivery to customers and presents information compiled to leadership and customers as required+ Provides data analyses using data reporting tools including SQL, Excel, PowerBI+ Performs other related duties as assigned+ Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field+ Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals+ Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function+ Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assignedRequirements and Minimum Qualifications :+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business OR Bachelor’s degree with related experience required; Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field preferred+ Minimum 3 years’ experience with gathering, analyzing, and reporting data for a wide range of internal customers in healthcare required; or an equivalent combination of education/experience+ Minimum 3 years’ experience with complex data structures, including independent mining and data exploration, and utilizing business intelligence and data visualization software required (i.e., PowerBI, Infor, SSRS, and/or MS SQLServer); or an equivalent combination of education/experience+ Professional experience in health care related data analysis and sourcing in a medium to large sized acute care hospital or health system preferred+ Previous experience in general accounting applications, Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word+ Familiarity/experience with data query and reporting tools preferredWorking Conditions:+ Typical equipment used in an office job+ Must be able to maintain a sitting position+ Repetitive movementsAbout Kootenai HealthKootenai Health has a solid reputation in the Pacific Northwest and has a rich history that spans nearly 60 years of innovation, achievements, and benchmarks in healthcare.
