Senior Manager Strategic Finance Deloitte New-venture Accelerator
What you will do
The role will play a critical role leading the analysis and execution of a wide range of strategic initiatives aimed at driving the growth of new business models across Deloitte.
The role is entirely project-based and serves as an internal consultant to support businesses across the various divisions of Deloitte.
The entire team works fully remote from home (including prior to COVID) with limited domestic travel for project-related meetings.
About the Team
The Planning & Performance strategic finance team sits within the Deloitte New-venture Accelerator (DNA).
DNA is an internal strategic accelerator that drives the growth of new business models focused on technology-based businesses with recurring revenue models.
DNA is helping to drive transformation as Deloitte evolves beyond its traditional professional services offerings.
Examples of supported initiatives include:
- Organic investments related to cutting-edge technologies such as AI, Cyber, Cloud, IoT, etc.
- M&A deals related to technology-based businesses
- Strategic pricing projects to develop value-based pricing strategies and tools for new offerings
- Operational improvement initiatives for Deloitte’s technology-based businesses
- Re-engineering of financial processes including developing new performance metrics and profitability measurements
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of a wide range of team projects (see examples above) including:
- Develop game plan for projects including overall approach, resources, deliverables and timeline
- Identify creative approaches to solve business and technical problems
- Oversee the creation of project deliverables including complex financial models and executive-level presentations
- Manage overall project execution including stakeholder and risk management
- Provide intellectual leadership including influencing executives to get buy-in and alignment
- Serve as advisor and business partner to leaders across the firm to help drive the growth and success of Deloitte’s portfolio of technology-based businesses including:
- Collaborate with and advise senior leaders to develop business cases and operating plans for large-scale organic and inorganic technology investments (e.g., AI, Cyber, Cloud, IoT, etc)
- Evaluate complex business decisions leveraging quantitative and qualitative analysis and provide recommendations to leadership
- Educate business leaders on fundamental concepts and best practices related to technology-based recurring-revenue businesses
- Collaborate with other teams across the firm to execute on projects including partnering with:
- DNA’s Commercial Insights team to understand dynamics of target markets and use insights to inform business strategy and financial assumptions
- Corporate Development to lead the business case workstream for technology-based M&A deals
- Various finance teams across the firm to support finance initiatives
- Continually evolve and improve the team’s approach to financial modeling, workshop structure, presentation deliverables, use of external contractor resources and other aspects of team operations
- Manage, develop, and mentor other team members
Qualifications:
- Senior finance executive with the following profile:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance with MBA strongly preferred
- 12-15 years of experience in finance roles including both operational and strategic finance roles
- Minimum of 5 years experience specifically in investment banking, corporate development, strategic finance consulting or strategic finance roles
- Experience in subscription and technology-based businesses required
- Financial planning experience including:
- Building operating plans and financial models for new business opportunities
- Leading business case development workstreams involving cross-functional teams
- Identification and analysis of financial and operational metrics for technology-based businesses
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting concepts
- Leadership experience including:
- Advising CEOs/GMs on launching and growing technology businesses
- Providing recommendations and insights for strategic and operational decisions
- Excellent communication skills including partnering with executive leaders
- Experience managing and developing staff
