Make day-to-day decisions concerning the accounting treatment of payroll and other financial transactions, utilizing appropriate accounting principles.
Process payroll to include accurate payments.
Investigate and correct any payroll discrepancies.
Ensure timely reporting of all payroll withholding tax payments to appropriate agencies.
Complete time entry analysis to ensure accuracy of entries and respond to questions about payroll processes.
Set up new payrolls and maintain/manage payroll details for employees to include changes to payroll accounts related to direct deposit.
Complete any payroll adjustments as needed, such as 401K contributions, benefit premiums, missed time, etc.
Complete wage garnishment distributions.
Complete employee and income verifications for current and previous employees.
Organize and research financial information for other departments or project teams.
Assist with preparation of payroll appropriate monthly and year-end financial statements.
Respond to all IRS and DOL inquiries in an accurate and professional manner.
Partner with Human Resources related to employee information and personnel files, ensuring adherence to confidentiality requirements.
Conduct payroll onboarding for new hires and explain payroll basics, processes, and timelines.
Troubleshoot time capture software issues.
Assist with processing of payroll for voluntary and involuntary separations of employment.
Complete monthly administrative duties, including but not limited to generating workers compensation reports and completing reconciliations of every payroll account.
Build and maintain relationships with project teams and other departments served.
Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma Experience working in a cross-functional, collaborative, and team-based environment Demonstrated experience adhering to strict deadlines Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment Preferred Education and Experience Certified Payroll Professional designation or bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited academic institution Previous experience in a Payroll Staff Accounting position Experience using eCMS and Austin Lane software proficiently Demonstrated experience working with a weekly payroll of 600 employees Experience properly applying payroll rules and regulations across all types of payroll transactions Experience managing multi-state payroll Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Prior construction payroll experience Experience complying with Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and/or Oklahoma payroll practices Benefits: Eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision benefits on first on month following 30 days of employment Company paid short-term and long-term disability insurance Company paid life insurance 401(k) and ROTH 401(k) with match on first 6% contributed Opportunity for bonuses Paid Time Off benefits, based on GE Johnson Paid Time Off policy 7 paid holidays Pay Range: $21.00
