Accountemps is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant with an eye for accuracy to fill a long-term temporary-to-full-time position at a growing Healthcare, Hospitals, Social Assistance company.

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation.

During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting.

You will provide support in developing and implementing accounting policies.

In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets.

Your responsibilities in this role

– Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

– Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management

– Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

– Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

– Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

– Participate in various department-wide initiatives

– Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

– Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision

– Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

– Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Job Requirements:

– Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
– Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
– Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
– Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
– 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
– Well-founded grasp of month end closings
– Experience with general ledger
– Comprehensive knowledge of Sage Accounting Software
– Microsoft Excel experience preferred
– Deep understanding of Microsoft Word
– Proven knowledge of journal entries
– Accounting Principles experience preferred
– Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
– Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
– Proficient in ERP systems
– Competent with spreadsheets and databases
– Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
– BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
