Staff Accountant

Ref ID: 02811711 Classification: Staff Accountant Compensation: DOE The Staff Accountant is a key position in the Department of Finance reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration and Senior Accountant.

The position requires knowledge of fund accounting, independent judgment and decision-making skills.

Frequent interaction with members of the public and outside agencies.

Duties will include accounts payable andreceivable functions, as well as payroll management.

Staff Accountant duties include:
– Oversight of basic daily accounting functions
– Maintaining financial records and coordinating quarterly billing.

– Process manual payroll
– Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations.

– Balance, run checks and ensures approval of all documents for accounts payable warrants.

– Review the accounts receivable month-end statements.
– Reconcile monthly bank statements as needed.
– Maintain employee health reimbursement arrangement and flexible spending accounting records.

Balance with monthly HRA/FSA activity.

Requirements of Work
– Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and governmental standards and/or fund accounting
– Good working knowledge of computerized accounting.
– Thoroughness, accuracy and strong analytical ability.
– Ability to work independently to complete work and special projects on time.
