General Summary : The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of daily transactions, month-end and year-end close, managing the accounting systems, consolidating financials and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP Essential Job Functions : Consolidating financials from multiple systems including elimination entries Manage accounting systems updating or adding departments and GL accounts as needed and locking AR, AP, Month and Year Manufacturing overhead analysis to be assigned to inventory in accordance with US GAAP Work with IT to improve accounting system automations for more timely and accurate reporting Improve BI reporting as needed Prepare journal entries related to business unit performance and month-end close for assigned expense categories Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts Month end report preparation and analysis for assigned business units Identify improvements and best practices to implement Prepare year-end and insurance audit requests Work with and mentor Junior GL accountants Assist Tax Director as required Miscellaneous projects Essential Knowledge Includes: Periodic inventory recording for perishables and center store Real estate module Fixed asset module, ensuring assets are properly tagged, recorded and depreciated Bank reporting including quarterly compliance reports Monthly sales tax filing Yearly census reports Quarterly payments of Texas Unemployment Taxes Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The incumbent must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required for satisfactory performance.
Knowledge and Abilities : Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint and Access) JD Edwards Enterprise One version 9.1 and SAP experience a plus Knowledge of US GAAP a must Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Possess strong time management skills Ability to perform calculations accurately Ability to solve problems, provide solutions, analyze situations and provide effective and efficient course of action Decision making skills Ability to maintain a positive working environment and relationship with employees Personal Attributes : Flexible Honest, trustworthy, and respectful Good work ethics Team player Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Masters of Accountancy, preferred Minimum of 5 years of hands-on month-end close and audit experience Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
