Staff Accountant

This is a Full-time position in Boston, MA posted November 5, 2021.

The Team

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join American Tower’s Corporate Accounting team.  The Corporate Accounting team consolidates results and internal reporting including flash, financial statements, variances, cash flows, AFFO, debt compliance, and foreign exchange reporting. The Corporate Accounting team provides support to the Company’s various geographic regions, determines the global close calendar, and works closely with internal and external auditors to oversee projects having a global impact. Day to day you will coordinate the accounting close for Africa operating units, by performing routine and non-routine accounting activities including month-, quarter-, year-end closes, journal entries, reconciliation of corporate accounts, subledger analyses, ledger and account maintenance, financial statements preparation, and other special projects. As a Staff Accountant you will partner cross-functionally to deliver financial information, including intercompany, capital expenditures, cash, as well as analysis of fixed assets and accounts receivable.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Coordinate the accounting close for Africa operating units, including actual vs. budget/forecast analysis for regional revenue and EBITDA.
  • Preparation and posting of general journal entries and preparation of account reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • Assist in the internal financial reporting process including the consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information including inter-company, payroll, capital expenditures, cash, accounts receivable, and other income.
  • Assist with corporate and consolidated fixed asset and accounts receivable analysis including reconciliations and roll forward preparation.
  • Assist with inter-company analysis and reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of legal entity consolidating financial statements.
  • Assist with software system implementations/conversions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience preferred; public accounting experience a plus.
  • Enterprise systems experience preferred, preferably on Oracle Financial Software.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; advanced Excel knowledge, including pivot tables and formulas, strongly preferred.
  • Approximately 10% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
