Sr. Accountant

Position Summary

Responsible for high-level accounting activities related to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resulting managerial reports and financial statements. 

Key Responsibilities:    

• Perform complex journal entry preparation that involves data management and/or strong technical accounting skills to ensure Financial reporting complies with GAAP and company policies
• Responsible for maintenance and reporting of AutoZone’s balance sheet reconciliation software, Cadency’s Certification
• Subject matter expert on Intercompany including:
  • Record and review Intercompany transactions including repatriations, capital injections, and service charges
  • Research Intercompany transactions including impact from foreign currencies due to revaluation and translation
  • Enhance Intercompany documentation and best practices including providing functional areas guidance on new transactions
• Collaborate with Tax and Treasury departments to reconcile, review, and adjust activity within AutoZone’s International Entities
• Prepare reconciliations for assigned accounts ensuring preparation in accordance with SOX controls and Company policies
• Performs analytical review of assigned store expenses; review analytics for adequacy and consolidate results
• Provide training and advice to other functional areas as super-user of Financials, PeopleSoft and Certification
• Maintain process documentation, seek efficiencies and contribute to process improvement
• Provide ad-hoc reporting and account analysis as required by management; perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (BS, BA) in Accounting required
• CPA preferred
• Demonstrated proactive problem-solving skills
• PC proficient (Microsoft and Web applications)
• 3 – 5 years related experience
• MBA; PeopleSoft knowledge; experience with Cadency Certification a plus
• Multi-currency and intercompany accounting a plus
