Alabama Ag Credit is a financial institution that provides financing for agriculture, agribusiness and rural real estate purchases and improvements. The institution is headquartered in Montgomery with nine offices that service the lower 40 counties of Alabama. With over $1.2 billion in assets, the institution is a cooperative and part of the nationwide Farm Credit System.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The CFO serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and develops and implements financial objectives, strategies and policies that enhance profitability and moderate risk. The position prepares, presents, and interprets financial reports for the CEO, association Directors, and governmental agencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field and 10 years or more of experience in finance, accounting, budget, cash management, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury operations including 3 or more years of leadership experience. Master’s degree or CPA certification preferred. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and information systems and security controls. Strong oral and written communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Broad responsibility for the organization’s fiscal operating results and considerable unreviewed latitude for decision-making in the planning and accomplishment of the association’s goals. Responsible for development of programs in the areas of funding, investments, cash management, forecasting, budgeting and similar activities. Conducts strategic and business planning including development of operating budgets and capital plans and establishes association performance standards. Leads and supervises the accounting/finance, IT, and human resources departments. Chairs the Asset/Liability Committee and coordinates related programs that control interest rate risk and ensures compliance with association objectives. Develops, implements, and monitors loan product pricing programs and interest rate policies. Develops and recommends policies and procedures to ensure the safe and sound operations of the association including development of strong internal controls and ICFR program. Oversees loan accounting processes and guidelines as established by FCA. Manages the departmental budgets and operates within delegated authority limits. Manages insurance and other financial protections of the association. Communicates effectively with CEO, association directors and team members, regulatory agency and other stockholders and external stakeholders.
