Position
We are looking for the position of Senior Portfolio Accountant to be based in Midwest regional downtown Chicago office.
Reporting to the Vice President
– Portfolio Accounting, the Senior Accountant will assist the Portfolio Controller, VP of Portfolio Accounting, Portfolio Manager and Asset Managers in all phases of the accounting and reporting of managed commercial real estate portfolio totaling over $1.7 million in gross assets.
Investments include office industrial and retail properties.
The Senior Portfolio Accountant will:
Take a lead role in the quarterly and annual accounting closes, including drafting financial statements and client statements
Perform quarterly financial analysis, including review of property and investment accounting information
Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting requirements, as well as year-end audit and tax requirements
Perform bank account reconciliations
Create and post journal entries
Conduct monthly reviews of property management reporting packages and providing timely feedback to property management teams
CalculatieCalculate monthly distributions to clients,
Review/prepare/assist property managers with annual budgets and annual tenant reconciliations
Advise, assist, and review work of off-site property management and provide direction and support on any pertinent accounting matters
Prepare invoices for quarterly asset management fees
Maintain loan files and assist with quarterly and annual lender reporting requirements
Perform special accounting and financial projects and analysis, including financial projection modeling on existing assets or new acquisitions.
Create efficiency in and effectiveness of the financial reporting process as well as improve client services
Special projects as needed
Requirements
Candidates for the position of Senior Portfolio Accountant will have 3-6 years of industry experience and/or public accounting.
Self-motivation, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong organizational skills and well developed verbal and written communication skills are all crucial to the success of this position.
A Bachelor’s degree is required and a CPA is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in various accounting and financial software systems (JD Edwards, Skyline, MRI, and Kardin) is required.
Proficiency with Argus is a plus.
