Performs accounting, financial reporting, and analysis functions related to the various product lines within the company, specifically Variable & Fixed Annuities, Stable Value Solutions, and other legacy lines.
Responsible for applying financial analysis knowledge & judgement to activities having moderate complexities.
Responsibilities :
• Performs professional financial analysis work, involving:
• Extraction of financial data from various accounting and information systems, consolidation, and appropriate analysis of financial data.
• Analyzes financial data and brings issues to the attention of the appropriate person.
• Participates in monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Collaborate with Actuaries, Identifies, participates, and contributes ideas for success in relation to assigned work, projects, or other process enhancements.
• Assists in the identification of core system gaps and works for short term and long-term solutions.
• Assists with journal entry execution, approval, and review on new or complex processes.
• Understands the flow of information, financial systems, appropriate reporting tools and uses that knowledge to troubleshoot problems.
• Effectively applies fundamental concepts; works on assignments of moderate scope and complexity, with limited oversight; makes recommendations for changes to procedures, and performs varied work, requiring some originality or ingenuity.
• Responsible for adherence to the companys framework of internal controls, assists with Sarbanes Oxley quarterly, semiannual, and annual documentation.
• Knowledge with Variable & Fixed Annuities, Hyperion Essbase, Omniflow, Power BI a plus, but can be taught.
• Can work with minimal instruction or guidance in moderately difficult assignments with diverse scope.
• Position requires a great deal of originality, creativity, and problem solving.
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of Power BI.
• Assists with IFRS 4 reporting in the normal course of business
• Assists with the implementation of IFRS 17 reporting
• Oversight on the Atlas system (core system for IMD Spread and FHLB Corporate Products)
• Assists with the reporting of Stable Value Solutions, working closely with the Distribution, Operational, and Actuaries teams to ensure no gaps in the reporting.
• Collaborate with peers on the Business Contingency Plan and semiannual testing.
Qualifications :
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience, with degree.
• Advanced computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Solid knowledge of accounting/financial area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premium).
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to handle multiple projects, customer service approach, willingness to take on new projects, analytical.
• Work effectively individually and within a team; organizational and prioritization skills.
