General Function
The Senior Accountant (along with the Assistant Controller) is responsible for the preparation and completion of all assigned month end/year end closing schedules.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for generating/creating financial reports from the various software programs of the organization and will serve as the point person for transaction level management of the general ledger database.

This position is responsible for the preparation of assigned general ledger entries and the timely completion of all assigned general ledger reconciliations.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the organization’s monthly bank account reconciliations including ensuring cash transactions are processed following the established internal controls and identifying internal control weakness and correcting in a timely and effective manner.

Special projects and other duties will be assigned as appropriate.
Know How
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a
related field and thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and
procedures as well as 3 to 5 years of demonstrated accounting experience.

Strong
oral and written communication abilities are required in addition to solid analytical
and technical skills.
Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong skills in Excel
and be adaptable to the various systems associated with the YMCA.

Considerable
knowledge of budgetary and ERP systems required.
