As the Production Sr.
Accountant, you will provide General Ledger accounting support to the company and customers through journal processing, data verification, account reconciliation, and issue resolution.
About the Role
You will assist with forecast and budget analysis for operating results.
The function of this position is to provide customer support to the business managers and accounting staff of related departments.
You will ensure that monthly account reconciliations, operational reports and the month-end close processes are performed.
You will report to the Manager of Financial Accounting.
Responsibilities:
You will perform analytical review on selected production, outside printing, and capital general ledger accounts which are related to the printed paper and research unexpected or unusual results.
Provide analysis of the composition and validity of account balances.
You will respond to questions from departments regarding general accounting and PeopleSoft system matters, investigate and resolve GL inconsistencies and assist us with certain ad hoc or customized analytics.
You will apply proper accounting treatment to new financial transactions and record applicable journal entries to the General Ledger.
You will work with department managers and directors to determine necessary month end journal entries
You will prepare budgets and periodic forecasts for selected departments.
Analyze actual results to determine drivers for variances from department budget / forecast.
You will ensure accounting procedures are documented; maintain internal controls
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
5+ years general accounting experience required with preferred forecasting and budgeting experience
Master of spreadsheet, presentation, analytics, database and financial applications
Proficient at interpreting and summarizing financial data in a clear and concise manner.
Make recommendations for process improvements and projects.
Good verbal and written communication skills, necessary to express ideas across all levels in the organization
Ability to prioritize and ensure completion of critical tasks
Experience with general accounting concepts and procedures (GAAP, FASB) with a broad understanding of complex accounting concepts and can apply professional judgment to complex accounting matters
Experience with PeopleSoft, Essbase, or Work Day desirable
