You will then be able to attach your Resume/CV, as well as all other supporting documentation in the “My Experience” section of your application.Job DescriptionOVERVIEW:The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate general ledger account balances that are substantiated by the completion of monthly account analysis and reconciliations.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Director of General Accounting & Reporting.

Major duties and responsibilities of this position include:Financial Reporting / Analysis
– this position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of General Accounting & Reporting in preparing timely and accurate financial reports.

This includes:Annual audited financial statements, including footnotes and MDMonthly and quarterly management reportsSurvey, external and internalRegulatory reportingOthers as assignedGeneral Accounting
– this position is responsible for the accounting for capital assets, certain receivables, payables & debt including construction in progress, capital leases and prepaid assets.

This includes:Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of these assetsRecommending to management any updates to accounting policies related to the accounting for these assets.Preparing account analysis as assignedReviewing account balances for completeness and the proper classification of transactionsReviewing bank reconciliationsPreparing audit schedules and assisting with audit inquiriesOtherActively participate in or lead special projects as assigned in Workday.

Projects may include but are not limited to: testing system implementations, upgrades, or enhancements, conducting financial analysis and developing ad hoc reports and process improvement initiatives.Assists in audits (i.e.

corporate credit cards) as conducted by the Controller’s office.Meeting deliverable deadlinesAssisting stakeholders and requestors so they understand account balances and contentAssisting the Financial Reporting area in understanding account balancesResponsible for receiving and resolving helpdesk tickets as first level support for the GL moduleProviding end user training/guidance in one on one and group settingsStaying knowledgeable of current GAAP as issued by GASB and FASBEscalating unresolved issues to the Director of General Accounting as appropriatePerforming other duties as assignedManagement retains the right to add or change job duties at any timeQUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeMinimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in preparing account analysis and reconciliations, and/or financial reportingKnowledge of U.S.

GAAP and the application of accounting standards as issued by GASB and/or FASBAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining focus on accuracy and attentionto detailTeam player with strong communication and writing skillsPREFERRED:CPA preferredAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macrosPublic Accounting experienceExperience using Workday Financials a plus or similar ERP cloud systemExperience in data miningPROCEDURE FOR CANDIDACY:Applicants should include a resume and cover letter describing how their background, skills and education match the needs of the University.
