Description
 
This role is part of Northern Trust’s National Sales practice, which is a team that supports business development efforts for the Wealth Management business unit through a variety of sales projects, proposals and applications.

This specific role is focused on writing customized proposals that position the firm’s wealth and investment management capabilities for individuals, families and nonprofit organizations, with a particular focus on Northern Trust’s discretionary investment management philosophy, process and capabilities.

Related responsibilities include working with groups across the firm to develop, edit and maintain material for use in proposals.

Depending on the skills, experience and interests of the candidate, additional responsibilities may also include one or more of the following: creating detailed profiles on potential prospects; completing asset allocation studies and investment fund research; coaching/training Northern Trust partners on the use of our fee proposal application; and other process and project management activities supporting the practice.

The successful candidate will have strong writing and communication skills as well as a general knowledge of investment management principles.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills are also preferred. 

The key responsibilities of the role include:
 
RFP Writing: Create tailored responses to RFPs that position Northern Trust’s wealth management, investment, trust and banking services.

Engage appropriate Northern Trust partners from all business units to convey accurate and relevant information based on the specific needs and objectives of the prospect.

Work with partners across the company and research investment topics to develop, edit and maintain material for use in proposals.

 
Additional responsibilities may include:
Prospect Research: Compile detailed research on prospective Wealth Management clients using advanced research tools and resources. 

Fee Proposals: Assist partners in the preparation of proposals used to demonstrate and book fees associated with Wealth Management services. 

Special Projects: Support National Sales management through special projects related to the sales process and lead generation as assigned.

Support the evaluation, implementation and management of various tools used in the sales process.

Assist with ongoing and ad hoc reporting and analysis related to sales process.

 

The successful candidate will benefit from having: 

Strong communication and writing skills

Knowledge of investment management principles and products, custody, trust and other banking services are helpful to perform primary duties

Ability to coordinate multiple workflows 
 
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; completion of or progress toward advanced degree and/or industry certification desired, but not required

3-7 years in financial services or sales support; marketing or writing experience also considered

Experience with Microsoft applications, including intermediate to advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams experience
