JOB DESCRIPTION

Robert Half is seeking a Project Manager III to work within the Corporate Accounting team. The Project Management function will work to achieve specific, defined business objectives through the delivery of business process and technology changes. The function involves designing, planning, mobilizing, directing, and monitoring all aspects of project delivery from inception to completion and effective transition to production. Typical responsibilities will include the creation and adherence to schedule, management of task execution, issues, risks, budget, and status reporting. The function will track and manage a Portfolio of business projects, management and facilitation of investment decisions, and oversight of quality projects deliverables.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work on highly complex integrated project design and planning activities with little to no guidance
  • Determine project/program parameters, design approach/strategy
  • Estimate the efforts of tasks and initiatives to determine total timeline, and if required, detailed budget for projects
  • Define communications strategy and plan, and optimize results through highly effective communications
  • Manage one or more medium to large scale, moderately to highly complex projects
  • Makes decisions regarding the direction of enterprise scale projects
  • Create and monitor integrated program and project estimates
  • Utilize knowledge of company culture, history, and past projects lessons learned to proactively define approaches, strategies, and plans to optimize execution of assigned project/program and minimize interruption/problems
  • Communicates program or project strategy, direction, and changes with leadership.
  • Communicate status of project within/across depts. 
  • Optimize results through highly effective communications
  • May be enlisted to assist in gathering portfolio data, preparing presentations, completing data analysis, or other ad hoc tasks to support the overall portfolio
  • Use status reports and other communications to elicit feedback and incremental modifications and optimizations to the overall list of activities for the team
  • Address project changes as they arise, and often proactively, through altering project processes
  • Proactively and independently perform and document risk assessments with program and project teams, oversee risk assessments of project teams within program and document contingency plans
  • Utilize a variety of tools to independently identify hidden or non-obvious risks through interviews, investigation, and awareness of project integration points and impacts.  Actively work with team to address and mitigate these risks
  • Identify and secure project team resources
  • Document project resource plan which integrates and aligns with project work plan, schedule, and project budget
  • Work directly with established resource managers or resource coordinators to coordinate resource planning, mobilization and planning
  • Identify and analyze resource utilization at the project level for multiple projects, to enable proper resource forecasting
  • Plan priorities that impact multiple or enterprise/global projects
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery of multiple projects
  • Project point of contact for communications, milestones, and review briefings
  • Accountable for assuring effective transition into production and meeting production acceptance readiness criteria
  • Highly effective organization of meetings to ensure flow, participation, progress, proactive mitigation of risks and issues
  • Manage, lead project team in, project activities including requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, training, implementation, and post implementation
  • Assign tasks, provide guidance, mentor project team
  • Plan and direct schedules to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget
  • Analyze and facilitate resolution of issues; carefully controls change
  • Interact with necessary stakeholders/team members to manage project scope and identify, evaluate, communicate, escalate issues
  • Communicate status of project within/across depts.
  • Overall status reporting and stability of project-oriented work efforts
  • Independently tracks key project milestones and adjusts project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of the project
  • Issues and risk reporting and communications as appropriate
  • Independent budget reporting and forecast reporting to Portfolio Manager for purposes of regular Portfolio rollups
  • Full meeting documentation, decision & action documentation, published and posted to project-specific repository

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, MIS or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience in leading large, complex, and global projects to deliver system and business change to organizations
  • Experience working in a finance SOX controlled environment is a strong plus
  • Experience working with large ERP applications such as Workday is required
  • Experience working with multiple entities and subledgers in a global environment is required
  • A good balance of business/accounting operational and system expertise is required
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to communicate/present information to employees on all levels and in small or large groups
  • Demonstrated ability to identify solutions to problems, listen actively, exercise sound judgment to make decisions
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, work independently and with others
  • Investigate problems or gaps through research or probing, make recommendations and prepare proposals, multi-task, meet deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
