Develop solution definitions for OpEx initiatives from undefined structured objectives.
Oversee OpEx projects including defining scope and objectives, project organization, identifying and recommending solutions, identifying risks, mitigation plans and critical success factors, developing opportunity assessments/business cases, approving project plans and resources and monitoring progress and outcomes.
Provide mentoring, guidance and development to others in the F&A organization to increase the awareness and competency of team members related to OpEx.
OpEx includes, but is not limited to, LEAN, automation tools, optical technologies and other technology based solutions for improving efficiency and effectiveness.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Project Management: Develops and implements OpEx projects that are aligned with the Enterprise OpEx strategy and structure.
Provides superior solutions by delivering successful designs and overseeing the organization and implementation of OpEx projects to meet schedule, cost, and quality benefit realization objectives.
Oversee a portfolio of interrelated projects at the F&A level ensuring integration, coordination, and consistency of process throughout.
Oversee strategic aspects of OpEx projects including defining scope and objectives, identifying risks and developing risk mitigation plans, identifying critical success factors, developing opportunity assessments/business cases, approving work plans and resources and monitoring progress and outcomes.
Reviews analysis of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to provide guidance regarding organizational progress toward stated objectives.
Provides guidance and direction to project staff.
Removes project impediments to ensure the project can be delivered successfully.
Analysis: Consults with senior and/or executive management and analyzes the strategic objectives of F&A, recommending solutions that best meet the requirements of F&A to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintains broad knowledge of multiple customers' functional business environments and assists and/or leads business area management in process change.
Understands cross-portfolio dependencies and uses extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Locates uses and documents appropriate sources of information for analysis.
Collects and analyzes relevant data and organizes into meaningful information appropriate to audience.
Utilizes the most appropriate tools, techniques, methods, and/or methodologies depending on the project's needs.
Design: Communicates effectively with customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
Ensures superior solutions are delivered to customers.
Assists in developing business operational models and defining business requirements that require system support.
Oversees development of conceptual and process model designs and system solutions to ensure business requirements are satisfied.
Customer Relations: Negotiates with and influences stakeholders at all levels, internal and external to Mutual of Omaha.
Works in a manner that results in customer satisfaction with the project.
Champions change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.
Lends expertise to internal teams and special projects.
Serves on Project Boards and committees as requested.
Business Knowledge: Identifies, defines and documents business problems and opportunities.
Develops solution definitions for strategic initiatives from undefined structured objectives.
Consults proactively with business area management to provide appropriate solutions and process improvements.
Training: Annually increases functional and technical expertise and demonstrates application of that knowledge.
Applies and shares knowledge gained from seminars and training opportunities.
Achieves appropriate certifications and educational advancements and displays business competency, i.e.
program management, project management, process re-engineering, change management, LEAN, automation, etc.
Human Resources: May plan, organize, staff, lead and control activities including: planning capital and human resource budgets; interviewing, selecting, and training staff; monitoring and appraising performance of staff to hold them accountable for end results; coaching and motivating staff; administering disciplinary action as needed; administering compensation to staff; ensuring that the unit or section complies with affirmative action guidelines.
ABOUT YOU: Project/ Stage Management: Five years or more experience of successful implementations of OpEx initiatives preferred.
Excellent project management skills including knowledge of multiple project management methodologies and development tools.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills including presentation skills.
Analysis: Strong critical thinking, analytical and influencing skills with extensive knowledge of analysis and design.
Ability to assimilate, interpret and draw conclusions from an extensive variety of data with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to effectively interact with appropriate customer contacts to identify the root cause of identified problem and develop, evaluate, and present multiple cost effective approaches that will satisfy the customer's requirements.
Utilizes Tools and techniques to develop process models to accurately represent and define the conceptual business environment.
Design: Ability to direct design of functional process and workflow design consistent with the conceptual design.
Oversees the process of documenting the results of the functional design for customer review and use during technical design activities.
Customer: Ability to develop and maintain business relationships with customers at all levels.
Ability to influence/persuade sponsors and key stakeholders on large projects.
Communicate effectively with customers, evaluate requirements, resolve conflicts, and prioritize schedules from multiple customers/suppliers.
Anticipate customer needs or problems.
Understand who the customer is and the broad impact of changes on all customers involved in any way in a process.
Technical: Strong understanding of how OpEx related technology relates to business processes and ability to apply knowledge to support the critical business requirements.
A working knowledge of LEAN-type methodologies, automation solutions, optical reader solutions, other technologies and a strong sense of curiosity and desire to learn.
