Job Summary
The Marketing/Pipeline Accountant reviews, processes, and coordinates the oil, gas, and crude oil shipping activities of company.
Interacts with vendors, business managers and field personnel, to meet and adapt to the accounting needs of an ever-changing, growing and expanding environment.
Bridges front office budgeting and planning to back office settlement and analysis.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsible for accurate accounting management, report preparation and assisting the Manager on financial analysis.
Ensures timely and accurate monthly revenue information, accruals and/or adjustments.
Implements and maintains internal accounting controls under the direction of the Controller.
Recommends efficient procedures to improve financial reporting and analysis.
Reviews the accounts payable and accounts receivable generated by the marketing, trading or shipping of oil and gas and ensures proper coding.
Monitors account collections, monthly accounts receivable and payable analyses and reconciliations, contracting of purchasers/sellers for payment of product sold/purchased.
Reviews all purchase and sale invoices for proper billing under the terms of contract.
Responsible for correct and timely preparation of monthly oil trading and oil shipping payments and receipts schedules for further processing by the general accounting department.
Reviews Oil Pipeline accounting, including all oil received into and delivered from the pipeline, allocation of the oil to producer/sellers and shippers.
Generates invoices to oil buyers.
Reviews payments to producers.
Monitors and reconciles all oil and gas imbalance and product gain/(loss)on all pipelines.
Assists in monitoring internal/external audits, preparing audit schedules/reconciliations and responses to audit questions/requests.
Assists in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts and provides explanation of variances.
Assists the Manager in review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and related budget variances and analyses.
Works cooperatively with the Controller and general accounting staff to resolve accounting issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting 5+ years oil and gas pipeline/marketing accounting and general accounting Knowledge of process from beginning to end required.
Experience with Sage 50 software highly preferred.
