Primary Function/Objectives:
The Corporate Financial Services (CFS) Accounting Manager for Corporate will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of monthly/quarterly close process, which involves the consolidated financial results for Corp Costs/Administration functions. This role is also responsible for coordinating internal/external audits and interactions with tax and treasury, while ensuring strong and effective financial controls are in place and executed. This role will also be responsible for the accounting of US payroll, which includes 17,000 US employees and will be involved in coordinating/interactions with GHR regarding any future changes to US payroll.
In addition to formal financial processes, this individual will be responsible for providing accounting support and guidance, ad-hoc requests and will interact with finance professionals across all towers, organizations, and senior management.
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure that Corporate and internal Corp Costs deadlines are met for Actuals reporting, and that the Division’s financial statements are accurately stated.
Manage the month-end close process, assisting the organization as appropriate to ensure accurate results and financial records, including topside HFM journal.
Consolidation of the Balance Sheet and commentary.
Manage the accounting payroll process.
Coordinate the Division’s internal and external audits, and Corporate Tax requests.
Be the liaison between Shared Services and FP&A.
Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for global systems such as CCI/HFM and Symphony SAP, providing support to users as first point of contact.
Streamline processes to improve efficiency and achieve cost savings initiatives.
Supervise, develop and coach a finance professional.
Manage direct staff in the accounting of the Abbott Fund.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or MBA preferred.
8 years of progressive accounting/financial experience.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as this role will interact with domestic and international organizations within Corporate, all Finance towers (including FP&A, Shared Services, CFS), and ADC senior management.
The individual must be highly motivated and can work independently.
Able to work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines and direct activities on several projects at one time.
Strong Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint skills and previous experience with HFM/SAP is a plus.
Audit experience preferred.
